All the newly-elected SRCs in the six campuses converged to be officially inducted as the new central SRC.

New office bearers were elected with SRCs from the various campuses campaigning for the top six positions.

Ms Thulisile Mabaso was elected president-general with Mr Nkosana Mbamba chosen as chairman.

Ms Nokwanda Dlamini is deputy president-general while Mr Muzi Hleza is secretary-general.

Mr Bongani Masondo became the new deputy secretary-general and Mr Xolani Nkosi is the treasurer-general.

The South African Students Congress (SASCO), a student branch of the African National Congress (ANC), managed to get all positions.

It was a welcome relief for the student organisation who saw their position threatened recently, when the Economic Freedom Fighters Student Command (EFFSC) took over as SRC at the Ermelo and Secunda campus.

The top six signed their declaration with their main objective to find a proper expression in all political structures.

They said they wanted TVET graduates to be part of the economy by finding jobs as well as helping students in need.
