Msukaligwa Municipality has been served with summons from the Department of Water and Sanitation on Saturday,9 of December 2017,suing the Municipality for the payment of R 184 124 516.50 for the outstanding amount in the supply of bulk water.
Council took a resolution to defend the matter and currently it is at the pleading stage.
Engagements are currently underway between SALGA, COGTA, Department of Water and Sanitation and municipalities.
“At this stage, indications are that the department may provisionally not go ahead with the suspension or restriction of the water supply pending the finalisation of the engagements on this matter,” said Msukaligwa Spokesman Mr Mandla Zwane.
