The Highvelder asked their readers for comment regarding the recent court ruling that no parent is in future allowed to spank their children. This is what they had to say.
It is wrong. Now children will be lawless and that will make for an ungovernable household.
We grew up being spanked and we came out fine. These children nowadays are so spoiled.

The ruling is wrong. Parents have their own way of raising their children and now they will be afraid to caution a child because of this ruling.
There is a saying in zulu, that you should shape your children while they are still young and spanking is part of it.
The ruling is wrong as spanking of children is a norm to us. Now the children will become unruly and think they have all the rights.
