Tourism community surprises motorists on Spring Day

The campaign was aimed at celebrating spring with the community and creating awareness of the importance of sustainable tourism and to create some smiles on the first day of spring.

Highveld Tourism together with the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) and various organisations celebrated Spring Day by handing over flowers to motorists at the Taute and Kerk Street traffic intersection.

The campaign was aimed at celebrating spring with the community and creating awareness of the importance of sustainable tourism and to create some smiles on the first day of spring.

Spring Day coincides with the official start of Tourism Month, which is celebrated annually during the month of September.

Apart from Tourism Month, September is also Arbor Month and this initiative is aimed at highlighting and emphasising the role that trees play in addressing food security, employment creation and some of the environmental concerns such as climate change, which manifests itself as global warming.
