Local tourist attractions in the spotlight

The next day Mr Ton Sanders told the group more about Chrissiesmeer and gave each delegate a copy of one of his books, "The History of Chrissiesmeer".

SA Tourism invited media representatives from various national TV stations and newspapers to attend the launch of the “I do- We do” tourism campaign.
The purpose of this campaign is to make people aware of their own potential in tourism.
The launch took place on 26 July in Dullstroom and was attended by the media, invited guests and Minister of Tourism, Ms T. Xasa.
The next morning there was a media briefing after which the group split in three.
Mr Athol Stark led the heritage and culture group and their first stop was the Cradle of Life at Badplaas.
They were entertained in the amphitheatre by Sibaca Swazi dancing and enjoyed a buffet lunch.
After lunch they took a ride through the Wildlife Safari Park.
They also visited one of the oldest rocks in Africa, Tiqwa Rock, and viewed the spiritual rock art.
A blanket ceremony followed where each delegate received a blanket as a gesture of friendship.
This was followed by gin tasting at the Gin Shop and supper at Florence Guest Farm and the group slept over in Chrissiesmeer.
The next day Mr Ton Sanders told the group more about Chrissiesmeer and gave each delegate a copy of one of his books, “The History of Chrissiesmeer”.
After that they were given a tour of Chrissiesmeer and experienced the bird life of Chrissiesmeer,
A visit to the tractor museum of Mr Jan Randell was next on the agenda.
The Friday evening was concluded with a gala supper at the Ermelo Tourism Centre.
Saturday morning the group had a master class in samoosa making at Jam Drop Ba-kery.
This was a very enjoyable experience for everyone.
This was followed by a visit to the Batwa Valley where they met Bushmen and each received a stone decorated with a Bushman drawing.
Lunch was enjoyed at Antique Sjiek in Hendrina and the delegation spent their last night sleeping over in Ermelo and returned home on the Sunday.
