Murder accused’s bail hearing will continue

Supporters of Justice for Rothiwa Chivas Tshifhanga filled the courtroom on Monday for the bail application hearing of the three accused charged with his murder late last year.

Tshifhango’s body was discovered on Tuesday, 29 November on the farm Spitskop, about 9 km outside Ermelo.

A farmer passing by on the Middelplaat dirt road spotted Tshifhango’s friend who had been shot and beaten, lying next to the roadside near the veld where Tshifhango’s body was also discovered.

Tshifhango had been strangled and his body hung in a tree, but his friend survived the attack.

Ayanda Mohlobo, Sithembiso Ndaba and Busisiwe Nkosi arrested for the murder of Tshifhanga are facing charges of murder, attempted murder, kidnapping and robbery with aggravating circumstances.

During the investigation officer’s report the court heard the accounts of the day and what led to the arrest of the three accused.

Five petitions opposing bail for the above were also read out in court.

The bail application will continue on 19 July for cross examination.
