It has been confirmed that five people sustained fatal injuries when the two vehicles they were travelling in collided head on.
Bethal EMS and Langamed Ambulance Services were on the scene to assist.
The police remained on the scene until the road was cleared.
The N17 was reopened just after 1am this morning.
