American Swiss robbery accused not granted bail

The accused was not granted bail and remains in custody.

The accused in a robbery at American Swiss jewellers on Friday 21 May, Mncedisi Masuku (30), appeared in the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court last Monday on a charge of armed robbery.

The case was postponed to 23 May for further investigation. He was not granted bail and will remain in custody.

Another suspect in the robbery, David Moagi Ntsimbi (40), was shot dead in an exchange of gunfire after the robbery was foiled by members of the Acsu Security reaction squad and police.

Two other suspects believed to have been involved in the robbery are still being sought by police.

Ermelo Station Commander, Col Winnie Mavuso, has requested business owners to beef up security measures as there has been an increase of business robberies and burglaries in and around Ermelo in recent weeks.
