Municipal strike comes to an end

Msukaligwa municipal strike comes to an end.

Msukaligwa municipal employees and members of the South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) met with Msukaligwa municipal management last Friday in a bid to resolve the ongoing municipal strike.

A union representative confirmed that a meeting was held with the intention to iron out issues of concern for the municipal employees.

The workers downed tools in a dispute over their working conditions, acquiring office space for their union and being provided with the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).

Municipal spokesperson, Mr Mandla Zwane, confirmed that they had met with representatives with the demands being prioritised  and attended to by management. He added that with the issue of PPE, the municipality had appointed a service provider for the supply and delivery thereof and it will be delivered at the end of the week.

On the conclusion of the strike, Mr Zwane extended the municipality’s apology to the community of Msukaligwa for the inconvenience caused by the strike.
