MEC pleads for community support

"We are not here to arrest anyone, our prisons are getting full and we cannot have a country full of people with criminal records"

MEC for Mpumalanga Community Safety, Security and Liaison Pat Ngomane has pleaded with community members to work together with government and to support initiatives aimed at reducing crime and road crashes.

Ngomane was speaking during a roadshow in Nkomazi Municipality where he spoke on the dangers of crime and to educate about road safety on Saturday.

” We are not here to arrest anyone, our prisons are getting full and we cannot have a country full of people with criminal records. It is for such reasons that we came here to plea with you and to discuss the importance of working together,”said Ngomane.

He also said government alone cannot win the fight against crime and road carnage, people must also join hands to fight crime as the country belongs to each and everyone living in it.

Ngomane also encouraged community members to become police informers and report those that commit crime. He also pleaded with parents not to allow their underage children o drive cars.
