Carolina Police are warning the community of Silobela, Carolina and surroundings of impostors pretending to be police officers and robbing people of their money and possessions.

According to the police, the impostors target people withdrawing cash at ATMs.

They stop unsuspecting victims and tell them they are investigating a certain crime and the individual fits the suspect’s description. They then insist on taking the victim to the complainant.

On the way, the victim is informed of standard procedures, which include searching, and the victim is robbed.

Police urge the community to be vigilant. Should you be confronted with the situation, the police encourage people to request identification cards and check the registration number of the vehicle the impostors are using.
