Accused in murder case ”in pain”

He alleged that he was not receiving any medical help in prison.

Banele Sihlali (28), arrested for the murder of Ms Issie Dippenaar, appeared in the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
The accused requested that the court grant him bail in order for him to see a doctor.

“I feel pain,” said Sihlali.

The magistrate refused and explained that there was a hospital facility in prison.
Not willing to give up the battle, Sihlali lifted his shirt for the court to see the gunshot wounds he sustained on the day of his arrest. He alleged that he was not receiving any medical help in prison.
The magistrate then made an endorsement on the docket, ensuring medical attention once the accused returned to prison.
The case has been postponed to 3 March, pending instruction from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The accused remains in custody.
