GSDM Mayor hands over 40 pairs of school shoes

Cllr Chirwa encouraged the pupils to look beyond their backgrounds.

Executive Mayor of Gert Sibande District Municipality Cllr Muzi Chirwa handed over 40 sets of school uniform at a school in Witbank Farm near Davel and in Sheepmoore last Friday.
Unfudlana Combined School near Davel received 20 sets of school uniform and another 20 was delivered at Thwahlele Primary School.
During his visits at the schools Cllr Chirwa said rural and farm schools are his priority to ensure that government takes good care of them.
“The ANC led government has prioritised education and all of us in the different levels of governance must prioritise education as such. Our main focus is to support child-headed families where parents are no more and where parents are unable to provide for their children school uniform,”said Cllr Chirwa.
Cllr Chirwa encouraged the pupils to look beyond their backgrounds. He said where they come from should not determine who they are and what they want to achieve in life.

He also made an example of himself where he told the pupils that he also attended a farm school but did not allow his family background dictate to him.
Chirwa pleaded with parents to support their children in what they do, he also commended the teachers for their wonderful and hard work.

To the principal, he said only good leaders succeed and requested the circuit manager to support rural and farm schools for the nation to succeed.
