Six die in horror crash on the N4 near Belfast

Six people died and three others were injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a light delivery van on the N4 near Belfast at about 20:30 on Monday 30 January.

The deceased were all occupants of the LDV.

The driver of the bus sustained serious injuries while two passengers were slightly injured.

Mpumalanga Hawks spokesman, Joseph Mabuza, said the preliminary reports suggested that the driver of the LDV lost control of his vehicle during a heavy rainstorm. This caused the vehicle to veer into the path of oncoming traffic where it collided with the bus that was carrying 40 passengers.

An official investigation into the cause of the accident has however been launched.
