Centre receives early Christmas gift

Currently, the centre houses 150 orphans and an old-age facility where older people receive three meals a day and do handwork and physical training to keep them fit.

Sinamuva Day Care Centre in Sheepmoor received an early Christmas gift from Camden Power Station Management last Wednesday when they were given a sum of money to buy a fence, gate, trampoline, jungle gym and office items for the centre.

The Executive Mayor of Msukaligwa Local Municipality, Mr M. Nkosi, thanked the centre manager, Eskom and the government departments involved for the role they play in the community, especially in contributing to the development of children and creches where the children are groomed.

The centre was established 17 years ago by Ms Mkhonto Vilakazi and currently houses 219 children aged between two and six years.

The centre also has a home base to which orphans identified by the the Department of Social Development are referred.

Human Resources Manager Mr Peter Lukhele expressed his appreciation on behalf of the the power utility company for contributing to building the economy of Sheepmoor. He said the donation is part of Eskom’s programme of giving back to the community.
