The passenger of a light sedan was seriously injured and the driver suffered light to moderate injuries when the vehicle they were travelling in was involved in a collision with a bakkie at approximately 21:30 on Friday night.
The accident occurred about 3km outside Ermelo on the N17 between Ermelo and Bethal.
The force of the collision sent the light motor vehicle crashing into a tree.
Emergency personnel of Mpumalanga Emergency Services and ER24 treated the patients on the scene before transporting them to the Ermelo Provincial Hospital for further treatment.
The occupants of the bakkie were uninjured.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
