New look for Civic Centre

Recent protests and attacks at the municipal offices, which endangered the lives of the public and employees, have prompted the move.

A new security look is on the cards for the Ermelo Civic Centre.

In an effort by the Msukaligwa Local Municipality to protect its employees and members of the public, the Civic Centre will soon be enclosed and easy and uncontrolled access will be a thing of the past.

The grounds will be enclosed with more than 1 km of 2m high clear-view fencing with six automated gates at strategic points.

Two guard houses fitted with shutter-proof windows will also be installed at the front and back gates.

Sources within the municipality hinted to the Highvelder that recent protests and attacks at the municipal offices, which endangered the lives of the public and employees, have prompted the move.

The fencing will take about six months to complete.

Tenders have been requested, but no final decision has yet been made.
