Police are investigating a case of concealment of birth after a human fetus was found in a plastic bucket.

Police issue stern warning
Ermelo police have issued a stern warning to young people, especially young girls, not to roam the streets alone late at night or in the early morning hours.

This comes after a 16-year-old girl was raped and strangled over the past weekend and another 15-year-old girl was stabbed and raped while she and a girlfriend were returning home from a disco at about 04:45 in the morning.

In the second incident the girls were followed and chased by an unknown assailant in Wesselton’s Makgwaza Street.

One of the girls managed to escape but the victim was caught and stabbed in the shoulder when she resisted. She was then raped.

Argument leads to stabbing
At about 01:00 on Sunday morning nursing staff at the Ermelo Provincial Hospital informed police that a patient had died after being admitted with multiple stab wounds to the upper body.

The man was apparently stabbed during an argument that took place at the Vuka Tavern in Thusiville. Anyone who may have information regarding the incident is asked to contact the police at 017 819 2321 or 082 373 8389.

Fetus found in bucket
Police are investigating a case of concealment of birth after a man found a human fetus in a plastic bucket while cleaning a drain in Extension 34 on Saturday morning.

The investigating officer, Sgt SZ Mkhwanazi has requested anyone who may have information to contact him at 017 819 2321 or 082 373 8389.

Armed robbery at private residence
A case of armed robbery at a private residence in Dan van Heerden Street was reported on Friday.

Four men claiming to be municipal employees gained entrance to the premises after holding the resident at gunpoint.

The men then stole R40,000 in cash.The resident succeeded in raising the alarm and members of the Acsu Reaction squad arrived on the scene and later apprehended a 28-year-old suspect.

A 36-year-old suspect was also arrested by police on Sunday. Investigations are continuing.
