Well-known businessman passes away

"He was a genuinely warm and wonderful individual, one we will miss greatly," - Damian Morgan, CEO Brakecore Supply Co.

Well-known businessman and co-founder of the successful Brakecore Supply Company, Mr Allan Hawley (54), passed away at his Sandton home on Sunday afternoon after suffering a heart attack.

Allan, his late father, Fred, and brother, Donovan, together with a friend  Wessel van der Merwe ran the very successful family business which was established in Ermelo in 1983.

Allan moved to Gauteng in 2012 where he headed up the company’s Jet Park branch in Boksburg. At the time of his death, he held the position of chairman of the board of directors.

He was a keen golfer and will be remembered among many golfing friends.
Current CEO of Brakecore, Mr Damian Morgan, said Allan was a good person to work for and was respected by his staff.

“Allan was living proof of how a fine person can be. He was a good boss, loving husband and a devoted father. The character of the life he lived could be summed up in a few words:
He was sincere, he was ernest, he was loyal and most of all loving and cheerful. He led his staff in such a way that he exemplified leadership through passion, integrity and energy.

He was a genuinely warm and wonderful individual – one we will miss greatly. Our sorrow is lessended only slightly with the comforting thought that we had the privilege to know him”, Mr Morgan added.

He is survived by his wife, Linda, sons Clinton and Allan Jnr and daughter Paulina.

A memorial service for Allan will be held at the Fourways Memorial Park, Memorial Lane, Fourways, Johannesburg on Friday 8 July at 12:00.
