Suspect bites policeman

A suspect has been charged with assault after biting a policeman who chased and arrested him after an earlier incident in which he allegedly discharged a firearm in a public place.

Police spokesman for Ermelo, Capt Carla Prinsloo, said the suspect had become embroiled in an argument with security personnel at the Las Vegas Night Club at about 21:00 on Saturday night.

The suspect became aggressive and allegedly fired a gunshot in the direction of the security guard. He then ran away, but was apprehended by police near the Ermelo Mall where the biting incident took place.

He faces a further charge of discharging a firearm in a public place.
