Alleged pastor rapes stepdaughter

Police encourage victims to speak out.

eMBALENHLE – A 59-year-old man has been accused of raping his stepdaughter.

He was arrested on Monday, 29 February at his home after his wife and the stepdaughter reported the matter to police.

Police said according to the information at hand, the man has been raping the 18–year–old since 2010.

“We commend the young woman for breaking the silence and speaking about her abuse.

“We encourage everyone facing any form of abuse, to report it to the police.

“We have referred this to the relevant law enforcement authorities and investigations are underway, said Capt Magonseni Nkosi, police spokesman.

It is alleged that the man is also a pastor, but police said they could not confirm this because it is not in the statement.

The man appeared in the Evander Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 2 March and was released on bail.
