Man shot in leg

The gunman allegedly shone a torch through the window to check if the victim was still alive.

A case of attempted murder has been opened after a man was shot at his home in Thusiville, Ermelo in the early hours of Friday morning.

He was stabilized on the scene and taken to hospital with a bullet wound in the upper leg.

According to the victim the shooting occurred shortly after 03:00 after he had returned from work at a mine near Ermelo.

Two shots were fired by an unknown gunman. The first shot struck him in the upper leg and the second one missed him when he fell to the ground.

Before fleeing the scene the gunman allegedly shone a torch through the window to check if the victim was still alive.

The victim said he had received death threats at his place of work the previous day.
Police are investigating.
