Mpumalanga provincial government has spent R318 726 million on drought relief.

Mpumalanga provincial government has spent R318 726 million on drought relief to farmers in the province.

This was the provincial governments’s response through the re-prioritisation of the currently available resources in the equitable shares.

Minister Senzeni Zokwana and Deputy Minister Bheki Cele will be undertaking national road shows from today (Friday). During the road shows, the minister and and his deputy will be visiting farmers affected by the drought to monitor progress made by the provinces on the provision of drought relief measures.

Mpumalanga MEC for Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs Mr Anfries Gamede will host the first road show at Ekulindeni Hall under Chief Albert Luthuli in the Gert Sibande Region, where the minister and the MEC will distribute animal feed, water tanks and engage farmers.
