Man flings boiling water at mother and baby

The enraged man grabbed a pot of boiling water and threw it at the mother who was holding the child.

A young mother and her baby were scalded by boiling water during an apparent argument at a home in Nyibe on Sunday night.

Police spokesman Capt Carla Prinsloo said the mother and her boyfriend were arguing, when the enraged man grabbed a pot of boiling water and threw it at the mother who was holding the child.

The woman ran out of the house, but the boyfriend caught and assaulted her.
The extent of the injuries suffered by the mother and baby was not known at the time of going to print.

In other crime, at least three cases of housebreaking and theft were also reported over the weekend.

Thieves broke into the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Wesselton on Friday night and stole chairs, tables and curtains.

On Sunday night, thieves broke into the Lungelo Tuck shop in Thusi and stole cash, cigarettes and air time vouchers to the value of R7 100.

Also on Sunday, thieves gained access to the premises of Likables in the Game Centre by cutting a hole in the roof of the building. They stole various articles of an undisclosed value.
