MEC promotes safe road usage

1064 vehicles were discontinued for road unworthiness.

Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison Vusi Shongwe has urged everyone in the province to ensure that goods and people are transported safely to various destinations.

He said this when he was responding to the successes recorded by traffic officials from 1 to 30 September in various traffic operations conducted in the province.

During the operations, 455 drivers were issued written charges for driving without driving licences, 864 were fined for failure to carry licences while driving.

130 motorists were arrested for different violations and 88 of these motorists had unpaid outstanding fines. 1064 vehicles were discontinued for road unworthiness.
