Working on Fire (WoF) General Manager Martin Bolton said wild land fires pose a threat to food security which could cause unnecessary poverty to communities.
Speaking at the commemorating of the World Food Day, he said WoF. the Department of Environmental Affairs programme addresses the prevention and control of wild land fires to enhance the sustainability and protection of life. property and the environment through the implementing of integrated fire management practices.
“By preventing and controlling unwanted veld fires, crop and farming will be saved and the economy will not be affected,” said Mr Bolton.
