Police’s SCM office gutted

A case of arson is being investigated.

A fire that broke out at the Ermelo Police’s Supply Chain Management logistics office at about 22:00 on Saturday night caused severe damage to the prefabricated building and destroyed piles of documents as well as office furniture and electronic equipment.

Police spokesman for Ermelo, Capt Carla Prinsloo, said passers-by noticed flames coming from the building and alerted police members in the Community Service Centre.

Police members began to battle the blaze with fire extinguishers and alerted the Msukaligwa Fire and Rescue Service who responded within minutes.

The blaze was contained and prevented from spreading to nearby structures.

Police forensic experts were on the scene on Monday to determine the cause of the fire.

A case of arson is being investigated.
