R7.5 million project to keep water flowing during power cuts

This is a R7,5-million project.

Water supply was interrupted in some parts of Ermelo due to a planned water outage for the installation of cables to the new generator at the northern water treatment works (Douglas Dam) last Thursday.

According to the municipality, the new generator will automatically kick in every time there is a power outage, thereby minimising water outages due to electricity interruptions.

The project of almost R7.5 million includes site establishment, upgrade of the electrical works, procurement and delivery of the cables, motor control centre, transformers, telemetry and secondary distribution switch gear, including installation of the procured components.

The project has also provided employment opportunities to nine people.
