Rail company hosts joint symposium

Ermelo Transnet Freight Rail Departments held a special joint symposium at the School of Rail Ermelo Campus recently to educate its employees on drugs, health, gambling and financial education.

Ermelo Transnet Freight Rail Departments held a special joint symposium at the School of Rail Ermelo Campus recently to educate its employees on drugs, health, gambling and financial education.

Mr A. Kgotle from the Mpumalanga Gambling Board (MGB) made a presentation about responsible gambling, dangers of irresponsible gambling and how people get hooked into uncontrollable gambling. With him was the Miss Mpumalanga, Zamanene Nene who is also the ambassador for the MGB who also encouraged the rail employees to know when to stop.

W/Officer Dumi Sibeko and Capt Carla Prinsloo from the Ermelo South African Police and Community Policing shared the impacts and dangers of drugs and different kinds of scheming devices used by fraudsters to defraud people at the ATM’s.

They also advised the rail employees on how to report crime, how drugs are transported from one place to another and how they are killing the society.

Ms P. Thabethe from Old Mutual made a financial education planning and the importance of managing finances wisely and smart.
She was later followed by Ms N. Mstuki-Mahlangu from Capitec Bank who also presented on the importance of using money wisely and living a fulfilling life that is free from unnecessary debts through making well-structured financial planning.

The event organisers from Transnet Freight Rail appreciated all the stakeholders for their involvement and participation in the awareness campaign.
