Burglars active in cold weather

Electronic goods such as cell phones, laptops, TVs and decoders, i-Phones and tablets are being targeted.

Ermelo: Police have warned residents of being lulled into a false sense of security by presuming that burglars are less active in the cold weather currently being experienced.

Police spokesman for Ermelo, Capt Carla Prinsloo, said several cases of burglary and robbery have been reported over the past weekend and preceding days.

In most cases burglars gained entrance to residences by climbing through windows that had been left open during the night while the occupants are sleeping or were not at home.

Electronic goods such as cell phones, laptops, TVs and decoders, i-Phones and tablets are being targeted by thieves.

Business owners are also cautioned to be on the lookout for people loitering outside or near their business premises, especially at opening and closing time.

Cases of housebreaking over the past weekend were reported in George Botha Ave, Adolph Schumann Street, Dan van Heerden Street, Chris de Villiers Street, Malaza Street, Oos Street, Autumn Ridge and Ext 1 Wesselton.
