Msukaligwa Local Municipality operation clean my ward campaign in Ermelo has disposed at least 4400 tons of waste since the campaign started 10 days ago.
According to Director of Community Services Mr B.C. Sibeko the campaign seek to clean all illegal dumps in the street corners in the different wards, prune overgrown trees, clean cemeteries and establish enviro-clubs and parks.
Section 24 of the Bill of Rights of the Constitution of South Africa states that everyone has the right to:
- An environment that is not harmful to their health or well-being
- The provision of waste collection services will improve the quality of citizens and will ensure that citizens live in a clean and more acceptable environment
The campaign is scheduled to run in the different towns within the municipality until 07 August.
