Gogo finally gets her RDP house

Gogo waited six years for her house.

91-year-old gogo Ntombizodwa Nkabinde finally received her RDP house after six years of waiting after a duplication of stand numbers.
Gogo’s house was built in Sakhile, Standerton instead of Morgenzon after an administration error with the stand numbers, but gogo’s long wait has finally ended as she received a newly built and fully furnished house handed over by Human Settlement MEC, Violet Siwela, recently.
The frail-looking Nkabinde reacted with joy as she was ushered into her house.
“I was beginning to worry how my grandchildren and I would survive,” she whispered.
When handing over the house, MEC Siwela said the department is doing all it can to ensure that communities are settled in an integrated and sustainable manner by prioritising the elderly, people with disabilities and child-headed households.
She also thanked the private sector and contractors who played a role in making sure that gogo Nkabinde’s house is fully furnished.
