School shoes donated to the needy

“I don’t wish the same for other children”

An employee of the Mpumalanga Department of Health at the Ermelo Provincial Hospital has donated three pairs of shoes for needy schoolgirls.

The donor, who requested to remain anonymous, gave the shoes to Highvelder reporter Lerato Mnculwane to hand out.

She said the donation was inspired by her difficult upbringing where she did not have shoes and walked to school barefooted.

“I don’t wish the same for other children. This is my small contribution to ensure that at least three learners will have the chance to go to school with shoes on their feet. To some this might even be their first pair of shoes,” said the donor.

The reporter handed the shoes handed over to the Department of Social Development as they have a close working relationship with local schools and school principals would be able to identify needy learners.
