Two die in stabbings

Two people died in separate stabbing incidents over the New Year period.

 

 

 

On 1 January, 34-year-old Mfanafouthi Petros Dhludlu died in hospital after being stabbed four times in the chest and abdomen.

Police spokesman for Ermelo Capt Carla Prinsloo said Mr Dhludlu had intervened in an altercation between two neighbours and was stabbed in the process. The incident occurred at around 06:00 in Ext 33 south of Ermelo.

In an unrelated incident, Petunia Mavis Shongwe (25) died after being stabbed several times in the chest. Capt Prinsloo said at about 20:50 on Sunday 4 January, Ms Shongwe was seen talking to an ex-boyfriend outside her home in Emadameni.

Neighbours later heard her scream and, when they went to investigate, they found she had been stabbed. She died soon afterwards.
