Mpumalanga is ready for the festive season

Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison Vusi Shongwe has indicated that the province is ready for the coming festive season.

Speaking during an SAPS management meeting, Shongwe called on police to work hard to ensure that all perpetrators of crime are brought to book during the festive season. He added that good police work improves communities’ confidence in the police.

Shongwe also outlined the planned activities for the holidays in dealing with an expected increase in crime levels.

The activities include raiding of liquor outlets, roadblocks, border operations and stop-and-search operations. He also said that all police components would be fully supported, including the Tactical Response Team (TRT) during Overall Friday Programmes.

Shongwe said he would fully support all law enforcement operations in the province throughout the holiday period.
