Police have released a man who was apprehended by Acsu security officers on suspicion of burglary and theft early on Thursday morning. The man was spotted near a shopping trolley laden with new clothes in Burger Street at shortly after 6AM.
Price tags on the clothes led the Acsu officers to a clothing store in de Jager Street where it was found that a burglary had taken place. Iron bars of a security gate at the shop entrance had been bent open and the front door was ajar.
Police were called to the scene and the suspect was taken in for questioning.
He could however not be positively linked to the burglary and was released pending further investigation.
