Barry Cooke passes

Barry was born and bred in Ermelo, went to school at the Ermelo Convent and matriculated at Ermelo High School.

Desmond Walter Barry Cooke born on 8 September 1944 died on Wednesday, 2 July at the family’s holiday home in Marloth Park.
Barry and his wife were on holiday at the park with their two grandsons, Tyson and Timothy.
Barry was born and bred in Ermelo, went to school at the Ermelo Convent and matriculated at Ermelo High School.
He met his wife, Priscilla Geoghegan, at a very young age when they went to school together at the Convent.
They were married in 1966 and had two sons, Terry and Shaun.
After starting his working career at Standard Bank, Barry entered the meat industry under the mentorship of his father-in-law, the late Terence Geoghegan.
He developed a passion for the industry and its people.
Since April 1999 until the time of his death this family man was working as general manager of Boxer Butcheries.
Priscilla was at his side, also working for the same company.
Barry is survived by his wife, two sons, daughter-in-law, Julia, two grandsons, granddaughters, Caitlin and Sarah, brother Anthony with his wife, Rosemary and children, sister Florence Grobler and her husband, Douw, his brother-in-law, Alan Geoghegan and wife Antoinette, sisters-in-law Milly, Margie, Genny and their husbands and children
A Requiem Mass for Barry was held at Our Lady of the Sea Catholic Church in Amanzimtoti on Wednesday, 9 July.
