Camden Power Station celebrates achievement

Current station manager Mr Christo Spammer congratulated the “Camdenites”, as the station is affectionately known, and pleaded with everyone to practise safety at work, home and on the roads.

Eskom Camden Power Station, the “Camdenites”, celebrated 1000 days without Lost Time Injury (LTI) last Friday at a prestigious event at the Mayor’s Parlour in the Gert Sibande District Municipality building.
On Friday, Camden was already on 1067 days without LTI, which refers to non-fatal injury that causes loss of time from work.
Previous station manager Mr Anthony Kuzelj said it was through team effort that the station achieved such a milestone.
He also emphasised that safety should be a lifestyle, not an instruction from management.

A pledge for a “Blue Flag” achievement was also made on the day.
A Blue Flag award is an international award given to companies that meet excellence in the areas of safety, amenities, cleanliness and environmental standards.
Thami Magele had the crowd tapping their feet to her tunes, while Deevine got everyone dancing to his new music.
The Young Professionals dramatised the importance of safety, especially at the station plants.
