New municipal directors appointed

Msukaligwa Municipality has appointed two directors in the Technical Service and Community Service departments.

Mr Bonginkosi Collen Sibeko, a father of six, has been appointed in the Community Service Department. He previously served in Msukaligwa as a councillor from 1995 to the last elections in 2011. During this time he served the municipality as Deputy Mayor and ward councillor for the Ermelo Transitional Local Council (TLC), as the Council Speaker and later as the Chief Whip of the ANC.

Mr Sibeko’s academic achievements include a teachers’ diploma obtained at Elijah Mango College, a BA degree majoring in English and Public Administration. He later obtained a Diploma in Human Resource Management and in Project Management from Wits Business School.

Mr Sibeko was a political advisor to then Gert Sibande District Municipality Executive Mayor Ms Busi Mdluli and for Pixley ka Isaka Seme Municipality as a manager for Local Economic Development.

Mr Skhumbuzo Magudulela is the new director in the Technical Service Department. He has served Msukaligwa Municipality for 14 years in various capacities. He has been an assistant director for electricity service for 11 years and three years as an acting director for Technical Service.

He is a recipient of an Eskom scholarship and completed a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering with Technikon Northern Transvaal (TNT) and later a BTech Degree in Electrical Power Engineering with UNISA.

During his tenure as assistant-director and acting director, he managed projects worth more than R200-million. Mr Magudulela served as a provincial member of a team entrusted with the responsibility of restructuring of electricity distribution.

He is studying towards a Master Business Administration (MBA).

The two directors assumed their positions in office on 1 December for a period of five years, subject to the signing of a performance contract.
