Camden donates to schools

"It’s been a long time that we’ve been without proper toys and this donation came at the right time."

Siyadlala Day Care Centre was one of the beneficiaries of donations from Eskom’s Camden Power Station last Wednesday.

The centre received toys, stationery, puzzles and paint for the 65 kids they look after. The centre manager, Landiwe Sithole, was excited about the donation.

“It’s been a long time that we’ve been without proper toys and this donation came at the right time. Everyone at the centre is grateful to Camden,” said Ms Sithole.

She also thanked her assistants, Winile Manana, Simangele Masina and Nonhlanhla Masina, for their dedication to the centre. During the handover Mr Anthony Kuzelj, the Power Station Manager, said they do not have a huge budget for donations, but they always try to share the little they have with the different schools.

Schools or organisations looking for donations send letters of request that are presented to the donation committee to determine who to donate to. Depending on the available budget, donations are shared equally, but the number of children per school is considered.

Other schools that received donations on the day are Ligbron Academy of Learning, Lindile High School and Pieter Mabuza Primary School.
