Group walks for rhinos

A group of friends walk across the country in the fight against rhino poaching.

SECUNDA – Members of Feet 4 Feat rested at Graceland Casino on Monday, 14 October as they continue with a walk across the country.

Feet 4 Feat is a group of friends who walks around the country in order to experience the fullness of authentic adventure and to challenge their own minds and limiting beliefs.

They are also walking for the fight against rhino poaching, to raise funds for the Reach for a Dream Foundation and to honour Madiba.

These friends are Messrs Darryl Atwell (37), Antony Esterhuysen (35), Bert Meyer (59), Willem du Plooy (40), Rudi Englebrecht (25) and Rob Grinham (44) and Ms Joeleen Botha (29).

Mr Esterhuysen said: “We do so in honour of Nelson Mandela who through his efforts taught the world that when you dare to try to do different, you can change the world for somebody.

“By becoming the blessing, Madiba became a legend that we should be proud of. He is an example to the whole world in the way to approach forgiveness and acceptance.

“We believe he chose love when faced with the challenges of his destiny.

“Our long walk is dedicated to you, Madiba, for showing us the true value of conscious choice.

“We left Cape Town by foot on 1 March.

“Travelling by foot allows us to see that which Nelson fought for – a country so beautiful that it deserves no less from any of us.

“We have discovered a world where people still do care, people like Graceland Casino.

“Graceland has hosted us for the evening and got to play golf yesterday, had a swim, a shower and a comfortable bed.

“The big thing is that we are so close to Johannesburg now, we should be in Benoni by the end of the week and we are really looking forward to hooking up with the great friends we have met along the way.”

Feat 4 Feat carries the South African flag wherever they go and let the people they meet sign it as a testimony to the fact that this nation is now transformed and to show that this country is filled with beautiful people.

They wish to hand over the flag to the Madiba family when they arrive in Johannesburg.
