Shalom Marathon Club tackles the Comrades

The top three athletes of the club, Themba Thela, Sibusiso Ncongwane and Vuyani Dlamini, did not disappoint as they all received the Bill Rowan medals.

All 16 athletes from Shalom Marathon Club who participated in the Comrades Marathon, crossed the finish line on 9 June.

The 2019 Comrades was an 87km up run from Durban to Pietermaritzburg.

The top three athletes of the club, Themba Thela, Sibusiso Ncongwane and Vuyani Dlamini, did not disappoint as they all received Bill Rowan Medals.

Mr Bheki Shongwe, vice president of the club, said: “It was these three athletes’ first time running the race.”

Shongwe received the newly introduced Robert Mtshali Medal.

Molifi Hlangwane, Themba Nzuza, Vusumuzi Nhlapho, Sydney Khumalo, Makhosonke Dhladhla and Moses Soko received bronze medals.

The five athletes who received the Vic Clapham Medal are Nomvula Mthethwa, Jeff Madihlaba, Thandanani Dladla, Musawenkosi Sibiya and Mzungezi Nhlabati.
