Horror smash claims two

Emergency personnel battled more than an hour to extricate the injured and deceased passengers from the taxi.

 

Breaking news :

Two people were killed, two were critically injured and several others suffered injuries  varying from minor to serious in an accident involving a taxi and a coal truck on the N2 between Ermelo and Piet Retief on Friday night.

The accident occurred at about 21:30 approximately 11km from Ermelo near the Camden Power Station.

Using the Jaws of Life, emergency workers from Msukaligwa Emergency Services – Fire and Rescue, ambulance personnel from Mpumalanga Emergency Services and ER24 and police battled for more than an hour to extricate the injured and deceased passengers from the mini bus that had slammed into the side of the truck.

The injured passengers were treated at the scene before being transported to hospital in Ermelo.

The condition of the critically injured is not known at this stage.
