WISSH warms winter for the aged

On the day, a total of 200 blankets and 100 walking sticks were handed out to recipients in Wesselton and Ext 33 and New Ermelo.

The Ermelo branch of the Women’s Islamic Society Serving Humanity (WISSH) launched its 2016 Winter Warmer campaign at Wesselton’s Thuthukani Hall last Wednesdayto the delight of a large group of senior citizens who packed the hall.

Warm blankets to help minimise the approaching winter chills were handed out to the elderly residents. Walking sticks were also distributed to those in need of a little assistance.

On the day, a total of 200 blankets and 100 walking sticks were handed out to recipients in Wesselton and Ext 33 and New Ermelo.

The WISSH Winter Warmer programme forms part of the Al-Imdaad’s on-going project of poverty relief. Beneficiaries are pre-identified with the help of local government ward councillors and social relief workers.

The occasion was attended by various dignitaries, including the project coordinator of the SA Al-Imdaad foundation, Mr. Abed Karrim.
