9 nabbed for robbery

The arrests were the result of a tip-off to an off-duty policeman

Nine suspects aged between 25 and 42 were recently arrested at Elukwatini after Elukwatini Police interrupted a robbery at a local business.

The arrests were the result of a tip-off to an off-duty policeman who immediately called for backup.

He and his colleagues followed and swiftly closed in on the suspects and arrested nine of them.

Three of the suspects fled into nearby houses, with the Police hot on their heels.

One suspect allegedly shot himself and the other two are still at large.

It is alleged that the suspects took control of a supermarket and blocked both its exit and entrance points and took off with an undisclosed sum of money.

Some of the money stolen from the supermarket was recovered.
