CMR Child and Youth Care Centre needs help with therapy for rape victims

“Years went by with the girls in our care and our hands being tied, while the case dragged on and hearings were postponed time after time.”

The CMR Child and Youth Care Centre needs the help of Ermelo residents to provide two sisters with therapy.

According to Ms Thelma Pretorius, manager at the Child and Youth Care Centre, the two sisters went through the terrible ordeal of molestation and rape.

“The one girl was still a toddler, the other one in Grade 2, when they arrived at our doorstep.”

As the criminal case against the perpetrators were being investigated, the girls could not undergo therapy.

“Years went by with the girls in our care and our hands being tied, while the case dragged on and hearings were postponed time after time.”

She added that the case was dismissed, and the perpetrators were free to go.

The girls, on the other hand, still bore the emotional scars, can now begin to heal.

They are now allowed to send them for therapy but the costs is R2 700 for each child.
