Mayflower Police nabs two suspects in possession of dagga worth R81 360

The suspects, Nicholas Sfiso Nkambule (33) and Nimrod Dumisa Dube (53) were arrested by Sgt Skhumbuzo Nkosi, Sgt Ronny Vilakazi and Const Rebotile Mashimbye, while they were conducting a stop-and-search operation.

Mayflower Police arrested and charged suspects on 26 August in connection with dealing in dagga.

The suspects, Nicholas Sfiso Nkambule (33) and Nimrod Dumisa Dube (53)  were arrested by Sgt Skhumbuzo Nkosi, Sgt Ronny Vilakazi and Const Rebotile Mashimbye, while they were conducting a stop-and-search operation.

According to Const Tryphinah Utla, spokesman for Mayflower Police, they stopped a vehicle heading to Dundonald.

She added that the police members requested to search the vehicle and found four rolls of dagga wrapped with brown tape, in the vehicle.

The dagga weighed 48,04kg with the street value of R72 120.

Another suspect was found in possession of three rolls of dagga, wrapped with brown tape, weighing 6,16kg with a street value of R9 240.

“The suspects explained to the police that they do not use dagga and did not have a permit to be in possession of dagga.”

Nicholas Sfiso Nkambule first appeared at Mayflower Periodical Court on 28 August, and was released on R6 000 bail.

The case was postponed to 4 October.

Nimrod Dumisa Dube remains in custody until 6 September.
