Steve Kalubi wants to bring unity in the Ermelo community

Later on in life, he began a NGO soccer club, that would keep young people off the streets and out of trouble.

Mr Steve Kalubi, founder of House of Prayer Church, has had a life long passion to help children.

When he was younger he took a bus to school, sometimes there would be bus strikes and he had to take a taxi.

“Most children that I traveled with had bus tickets, but no money and when there were strikes, they would be stranded.

“I would then gather a group of children and those of us that had money would pay the taxi fees for the children that didn’t have money.

“That way we were able to get to school,” Mr Kalubi said.

Later on in life, he began a NGO soccer club, that would keep young people off the streets and out of trouble.

Thereafter, Mr Kalubi began an aftercare for Grade 1 to Grade 9 learners, helping them with homework.

He added: “I was doing this to please God.”

He said he felt like helping children was his purpose in life.
