Two men caught for armed robberies in Fernie

As previously reported in the Highvelder, the Fernie Police launched a manhunt for thieves who robbed two stores in different sections in Fernie.

Two men were arrested for business robberies that occurred in Fernie on Thursday, 7 March.

As previously reported in the Highvelder, the Fernie Police launched a manhunt for thieves who robbed two stores in different sections in Fernie.

The police could not at the time verify if both robberies where committed by the same people.

In the one case, four suspects robbed the Zamokuhle General Trading Store in Ext A, near Alliance Church, with a firearm at around 7pm.

Money and cell phones valued at R11 290 were taken.

In the second robbery, four men robbed the Sizanani Shop in the Emkhumula section, around 7.50pm.

Money and cell phones valued at R1 800 were taken during the robbery.

After investigations, two suspects were arrested and they appeared in the Mayflower Periodical Court on Wednesday, 13 March.

The case was postponed to Monday, 1 April for a formal bail application.
