Local sides at the end of a beat down in SAB Soccer League Gert Sibande Stream B

Three of the local outfits were at the end of humiliating defeats as they bore the brunt of big margin scores which highlighted the lack of quality in their play.

Local teams failed to register maximum points in the latest edition of the SAB Soccer League in the Gert Sibande Stream B this past weekend of 9 March.

Only VOC United managed a point after they played to a goalless draw against Blackstone at the Mpumalanga stadium in Wesselton.

The rest of the local outfits were at the end of humiliating defeats as they bore the brunt of big margin scores which highlighted the lack of quality in their play.

Ermelo United were at the end of a hammering, as they succumbed to a 7-0 defeat at the hands of Passion FC from Carolina.

Mafia Stars also had a weekend to forget, as they lost 5-1 to Shooters FC.

Sun City Gunners had no response to Hammers FC’s three goals, going down 3-0, in what was a horrible week for the local sides.

In other matches, Losta Stars beat Mpumalanga Eagles 2-0, and Flymingo United managed a scrappy 1-0 win over XI Experience.

The Manzana FC versus Somhlolo FC and Breyten derby, between Breyten United and Breyten Home Sweepers, games were called off due to heavy rain and lightning.

The PR Barcelona versus Typhoon match date is yet to be announced.

After the weekend, Manzana still top the table and look to be on track to winning the title on 51 points, despite their match being postponed.

Flymingo United follow them on 44 points in second place and Breyten Home Sweepers are in third on 41 points.

Local sides occupy the middle of the table with VOC United the only local team in the top half in seventh position on 35 points.

Mafia Stars are in position nine on 24 points and the Sun City Gunners are 13th, on 19 points.

On the other end of the table, defending champions, Somhlolo FC, are in 16th position on 16 points.

Losta Stars are in 17th position on 14 points, and Ermelo United seem to be going nowhere slowly at the bottom of the table on 10 points.

The next round of matches will take place this coming weekend of 16 March.
